Since I went to the World Cup for a whole 4 days, I am entitled to generalize at will about the whole country: German fans like to embrace the (socio-political) underdog fully. At both the Ghana-USA and Serbia-Cote d'Ivoire matches, there were thousands of German fans wearing the jerseys of the African nations (at 60 euros a pop), with faces painted, etc. and cheering for them as if it were their home nation.
